DHL Express Enhances Egypt's Logistics Landscape with New Service Hub
DHL Express is taking a significant step forward in expanding logistics capabilities in Egypt with the creation of its largest service center yet. The collaboration with Yanmu Logistics, part of the Hassan Allam Group, marks a bold €24 million investment aimed at reinforcing Cairo's strategic role as a logistics hub for Africa and the Middle East.
A Major Investment in Growth
Set to be located in the East Cairo Logistics Park, the new facility will span 13,000 square meters, featuring 11,000 square meters of build-up area, aiming to double the operational capacity of DHL Express in Egypt. This ambitious project supports the company's goal of achieving a remarkable 27% increase in business volume by 2035.
"The opening of this new facility is aligned with the booming scale of business in Egypt and reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality logistics services worldwide," noted Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express for MENA. The investment highlights Egypt’s importance as a key trade and logistics player, leveraging its prime position at the crossroads of significant trade routes.
Streamlining Operations with Modern Solutions
The facility is designed to adhere to the rigorous TAPA A safety standards and incorporates advanced systems for processing shipments. This enhancement will improve the speed and reliability of both inbound and outbound logistics, ultimately elevating the customer experience. In parallel, expansion efforts will include upgrades to the customs clearance facility at Cairo International Airport, promoting more efficient trade operations.
Impact on the Regional Logistics Landscape
DHL's new service center is not just about numbers—it's about reshaping logistics dynamics in Egypt. By enhancing cross-border network efficiency, the facility will serve as a critical connector for Middle Eastern and African markets with global trade flows. Its proximity to key transport networks like the Ring Road and Suez Road will support timely deliveries, meeting growing demand from businesses and customers alike.
Future Prospects for Egypt's Logistics Sector
As international trade evolves, major logistics firms like DHL recognize Egypt's unique position to adapt to these changes. The new service center is expected to play a vital role in the modernization of trade practices, reflecting broader trends in logistics development that prioritize efficiency and connectivity. The presence of such advanced logistics infrastructure is likely to attract more foreign investment and promote economic stability.
This initiative represents not just an operational upgrade for DHL but also a resonant statement about the future of logistics in Egypt. As the country continues to position itself as a logistics powerhouse, collaborations such as these will undoubtedly fuel national economic growth and enhance global trade interactions.
